The Sargood Centre
Logan Park, Dunedin
Client: Dunedin City Council, 2012
Conservation, restoration and adaptive reuse project involving rehabilitation of the collection of buildings on Logan Park sports ground. Originally home of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery. The former main gallery is a Heritage NZ Category 1 building that had been progressively reduced in size to make way for expansion of the adjoining cricket ground at University Oval.
The buildings were gifted to Dunedin City by the Sargood family in 1926. The City Council, assisted by a generous contribution from the Sargood Bequest in 2011 undertook the project to convert the badly deteriorated buildings for occupation by Otago Polytechnic Institute of Sport & Adventure and Sport Otago.
